GENEVA, Ill. (csssaints.com) – The fourth-seeded St. Scholastica women's hockey team completed a quarterfinal sweep of third-seeded Aurora University (Ill.) with a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon to advance in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Slaats Cup playoffs.

How it Happened
The Saints scored in the opening period for the second consecutive day as Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) netted a goal for the second straight day with less than three minutes remaining in the period. Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS) had the assists.

Like Saturday's contest, the second period went by scoreless and the Saints extended their lead early in the third. Also like Saturday, it would be Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) delivering the goal just 26 seconds into the period to make it 2-0. Nundahl and Ali Ratzloff (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Lourdes HS) were credited with the assists.

The Spartans (17-10-0) would get on the board with less than three minutes remaining, but CSS responded with a power-play goal by Nundahl with 1:13 left on the clock to make the final 3-1. Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) had the assist.

Goaltending
Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) stopped 38 of 39 shots to earn the victory and, in doing so, now holds the program record for saves in a career at 2,164. She is one save shy of her second consecutive 600-save season. Chiara Pfosi had 19 in the loss for Aurora.

Up Next
The Saints (14-9-4) advance to Championship Weekend, which will be held once against at Adrian College (Mich.). For the third straight year CSS will face Lake Forest College (Ill.) in the semifinals on Friday.
