Women’s Hockey Welcomes Trine this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team will host Trine University (Ind.) this weekend in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series beginning on Friday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-CSS is coming off a road trip at fourth-ranked Adrian College (Mich.), which resulted in the Saints earning one point out of the series.
-Including this weekend, the Saints still have five NCHA series remaining; already having played the top two teams in the conference in Adrian and Lake Forest College (Ill.).
-The Saints sit just four points out of third place in the conference.
-Junior Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) continues to lead the team in scoring with seven goals and 14 points.
-Junior Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) has taken over the team lead in assists with eight.
-Senior Sam Gorecki (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic (Chicago Fury)) has a career-best seven assists this season and ranks third in the conference in scoring by a defenseman.
-Senior goaltender Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) remains second in the conference with a .942 save percentage.
-CSS is 4-2-0 this season when scoring first and 1-5-2 when they don't.
 
What You Need to Know about Trine:
Record: 7-5-3, 3-4-1 NCHA
-The Thunder will enter the weekend on a four-game winning streak after sweeping a road series and Marian University (Wis.) last weekend.
-Over the last nine games, Trine is 4-2-3 overall.
-Junior Eryn Isaacson leads the team with seven goals and 13 points.
-Isaacson was named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after recording the game-winning goals in both games last weekend.
-Sophomore Brandi Wilson leads the team with seven assists.
-Senior goaltender Molly Scarborough has seen the most action in goal with 1.56 goals-against-average and a conference-best .953 save percentage.
-Trine is allowing just 1.67 goals per game and has allowed only three power-play goals in 38 opportunities.
-The Thunder are 6-0-2 this year when scoring first.
 
Series Record: CSS leads 4-0-0 (Last Meeting: 4-1 CSS, 1/19/2019)
 
Series History: The Saints have won all four meetings against the Thunder by a total scoring margin of 16-3 … CSS has not allowed more than a goal in any of the first four matchups.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints will be in the Milwaukee area next weekend for a two-game conference series at Concordia University Wisconsin.
