WHITEWATER, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team had its season come to an end with a 5-0 loss to No. 36 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Doubles
The Saints dropped all three doubles matches to begin play. However, the No. 2 team of
Sara Wennerstrand (Baxter, Minn. /Brainerd HS (Saint Benedict)) and
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) had their match go to tiebreak only to see the Warhawks prevail 7-4.
Singles
Wennerstrand, at No. 2, was also strong in her singles match, winning the first set 6-0. However, her match would not finish before Warhawks clinched wins at the No. 1 and 4 positions to seal the victory at 5-0.
End of Season
The Saints finish with an overall record of 17-7. CSS will say goodbye to departing seniors
