csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated Concordia College-Moorhead 9-0 Sunday evening.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Sara Wennerstrand (Baxter, Minn. /Brainerd HS (Saint Benedict)) and
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won 8-3. The No. 2 team and sister combo of
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Brynne Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) won 8-3. Finally, the No. 3 team of
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and
Syd Holt (Crosslake, Minn. /Pequot Lakes HS) won in a tiebreak 8-7 (7-4).
Singles
Wennerstrand won at the No. 1 spot by scores of 6-4, 6-3. E. Hauer rallied after dropping the first set to win 5-7, 6-2, (10-6) for her first singles win of the season.
Rice won at the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-2, 6-0. B. Hauer was victorious at the No. 4 spot 6-3, 6-0. Hauer leads the team with four singles wins thus far.
Jankila came out on top at the No. 5 spot 6-4, 6-0. The final winner was
Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) at No. 6 by scores of 6-4, 6-2.
