Women’s Basketball Heads to Northwestern Saturday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team will travel to St. Paul on Saturday to face the University of Northwestern (Minn.) in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are coming off a dominating win over Martin Luther College on Wednesday.
-Freshman Emma Schmidt (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) scored a season-high 17 points, while senior Mariah Pearson (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) added a career-high 15 points.
-Senior Danielle Cieluch (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) is averaging nine points and 10 rebounds over the last two games.
-Cieluch ranks fourth in the conference with 20 blocked shots.
-Sophomore Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game.
-Kennedy ranks third in the conference and 30th in NCAA Division III, making 56 percent of her field goal attempts.
-Senior Michala Walther (Roseville, Minn./Concordia Academy) is averaging 10.0 points per game.
-All 11 games this season have been decided by double-figures.

-The Eagles have won five of their last six games and had a 21-point win at Northland College on Wednesday.
-UNW opened the season with losses in six of its first seven games.
-The Eagles lead the UMAC by holding opponents to just 34.7 percent from the floor.
-They also rank third in NCAA Division III with 81 blocked shots.
-Rio Landers leads the conference with 29 blocked shots.
-Amy Berglund leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per game.
-Berglund ranks second in the conference with 36 steals.
-Kelsea Lund averages 10.2 points per game and leads the UMAC making 41 percent of 3-point attempts, while being second in the league in 3-point field goals made (29).
