Women’s Basketball Hosts NCU, Travels to Morris this Week

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team will play its last game of a three-game home stand at the Reif Gymnasium on Wednesday against North Central University and then travels to face the University of Minnesota Morris on Saturday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are coming off a hard-fought loss to conference leader Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday.
-CSS led for 25 minutes in the contest, only to lose by eight.
-Senior Danielle Cieluch (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had a career game for the Saints, setting a single-game program record with 19 rebounds and also tying a program record with seven blocked shots.
-Over the last six games, Cieluch is averaging 12.3 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game.
-She leads the UMAC with 9.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocked shots per game in conference action.
-Cieluch needs eight blocked shots to reach 50 this season and 11 more to hit 100 for her career.
-Speaking of milestones, fellow senior Michala Walther (Roseville, Minn./Concordia Academy) needs 11 points to become the 13th player in program history to reach 1,000 for her career.
-Walther is averaging 19.0 points per game over the last three games.

Overall Record: 10-7, 4-5 UMAC
-The Rams are coming off an eight-point win against the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Saturday.
-That win puts NCU tied with the Saints for fifth in the UMAC standings.
-That win could also prove critical for tie-breaker scenarios if NCU is able to defeat the Saints Wednesday.
-North Central has alternated wins and losses over the last seven games.
-Naomi Hagstrom leads the Rams in scoring at 14.4 points per game.
-Both Hagstrom and Haleigh Filer are averaging over 14 points per game in league play.
-In conference play, the Rams are holding opponents to league-low .230 3-point field goal percentage, while making a UMAC-best 6.8 3-pointers per game.
-Allison Bulthuis is tied for the UMAC lead with 22 made 3-pointers in conference play.

-Morris will play Trinity Bible College (N.D.) in non-conference play on Tuesday.
-Morris sits third in the UMAC standings, a game-behind both UW-Superior and Bethany Lutheran.
-Kendra Raths leads the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game.
-Raths is averaging 15.8 per game in UMAC action.
-Abby VanKempen ranks third in the conference, averaging 8.2 rebounds per game in UMAC play.
-The Cougars leads the conference, making 45 percent of their field goals in league play.
-Overall this season, Morris leads the conference in scoring defense (56.9 points per game)
