Women’s Tennis Ends Season with NCAA Loss to Gustavus

JANESVILLE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – Due to weather, action on Friday for the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament was moved from Whitewater indoors to Janesville. The St. Scholastica women's tennis team, who was making its fourth consecutive tournament appearance, fell to Gustavus Adolphus College 6-0 to end its season.
 
Doubles
The Saints were only able to pick up two games in the three doubles matches as the Gusties opened up a quick 3-0 lead in the dual.
 
Singles
Gustavus then won in straight sets at the No. 1 spot and the No. 4 and 6 spots ended next at the same time to end the dual, 6-0, in favor of the Gusties.
 
Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) took three games off her opponent in the first set as her match was unfinished.
 
End of Season
The Saints finish with a 14-7 overall record. CSS will say goodbye to four seniors in Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS), Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn./Armstrong HS), Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico/Universidad Tecmilenio) and Emma Bartels (Roseville, Minn./Mounds View HS (Minn.-Duluth)). The class made four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the first CSS class to do so in program history. Coryell also finishes her career as the winningest singles player in program history with 80 victories and a winning percentage of .870.
