DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team has its final two games of the regular season this weekend, only a point out of first, but also only two points ahead of its opponent Lake Forest College (Ill.).

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints matched a program record with their 15th win of the season in a 5-1 victory over Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday.
-The five goals scored against the Yellowjackets were the most in that series' history.
-It also marked the first time the Saints defeated UWS at Mars Lakeview Arena.
-CSS has also set a program record for conference wins in a season at 13; the previous record was 12 in 2013-14.
-The Saints are a point back of Adrian College (Mich.) for first and two points clear of Lake Forest.
-CSS needs two points this weekend to clinch the No. 2 seed.
-Adrian plays at Marian University (Wis.) to close the regular season; Marian is hoping to hold the sixth-and-final postseason spot.
-CSS would lose the tiebreaker to Adrian.
-Senior Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) has four goals in the last three games.
-Sawyer leads the team with 17 goals and 26 points on the year.

-Goaltenders Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) and Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) have averaged 29.0 saves per game, which currently second-most in program history.

-The Foresters enter the weekend with an overall record of 15-8-0 and 13-3-0 NCHA play.
-They are riding a six-game win streak, having scored at least four goals in five of those wins.
-10 of Lake Forest's 15 wins have come at home as it is only 5-5 on the road.
-The Foresters have the second-best scoring offense in NCAA Division III, averaging 5.17 goals per game.
-The Foresters have the top four point scorers in the conference.
-Senior Olivia Spellmire leads the way with 37 points and is tied with sophomore teammate Sydney Simone with a league-high 21 assists.

Series History: This will be the first meeting since the Foresters ended CSS' season in double-overtime of a mini-game in last year's NCHA Slaats Cup semifinals … The Saints ended a 13-game winless streak against Lake Forest by taking game two of the semifinal series 2-0 … Three of St. Scholastica's four wins in the series have come at Lake Forest.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints will host a first round NCHA Slaats Cup playoffs series next weekend at Mars Lakeview Arena. The opponent will be decided this weekend. The first round series will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23.
