Women’s Hockey Hosts Rival UWS Tuesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team has its final game of 2018 on Tuesday when it welcomes Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior to Mars Lakeview Arena.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints have not played since finishing off a sweep of St. Norbert College (Wis.) on December 1.
-CSS is 1-1-1 in its first three non-conference games.
-This will be the first non-conference game at home.
-Sophomore Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) has a NCHA-high 18 points thru the first 11 games.
-Anderson has recorded a point in eight straight games and an assist in the last seven games.
-Anderson is tied for the NCAA Division III lead with 13 assists.
-Linemate Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) has a point in seven consecutive games.
-Senior Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) and freshman Amber Tilander (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) lead the team with six goals.
-Tilander leads all NCHA freshmen in goals.
-Sophomore goaltender Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) started both games of the St. Norbert series and improved to 4-0 on the year.
-Huseby now leads the NCHA in save percentage (.962) and goals-against-average (0.77).
-Both Huseby and junior goaltender Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) have two shutouts on the year.
-The Saints have the top power-play in the NCHA, converting 20-percent of their opportunities.
-CSS is 5-0 when it scores first.
 
What You Need to Know about UW-Superior:
Record: 4-8-1, 0-3-1 WIAC
-The Yellowjackets snapped a five-game winless streak by sweeping Finlandia University (Mich.) over the weekend.
-Three of Superior's four wins this season have come against NCHA teams.
-UWS is 0-4 in road games.
-Junior Kaleigh Martinson leads the team with seven goals and 11 points.
-Fellow junior Molly Shelton has a team-high five assists.
-Junior Catherine Johnson has seen the most time in net with a 2.78 goals-against-average.
-The Yellowjackets are 0-4 in one-goal games.
 
Series Record: UWS leads 9-5-1 (Last Meeting: CSS 5-1 – 2/13/2018)
 
Series History: After dropping the first six meetings against the Yellowjackets at Mars Lakeview Arena, the Saints got their first home win of the series last year with a 5-1 victory … That was also the largest margin of victory in the series for either team … CSS has never won back-to-back games over the Yellowjackets.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints return to action Friday, January 4 when they host Saint Anselm College (N.H.).
