DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – In a game which saw the St. Scholastica women's soccer team dominate possession and put 30 shots towards the goal; it took just one of the three total shots by the University of Wisconsin-Superior, off its only corner of the game, to end the Saints' season, scoring with 37 seconds remaining in regulation to advance 1-0.

How it Happened
The Saints out-shot the Yellowjackets (8-10-3) 16-2 in the first 45 minutes of play, but shots on goal were just 4-1 as the contest remained scoreless.

St. Scholastica controlled even more in the second half, not allowing a single UWS shot for 44 minutes. Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) would hit the left post in the 65th minute. That was followed shortly after by golden chance for Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) off a cross that was stopped by Superior goalkeeper Madison Gutekunst.

The Yellowjackets would get a rare rush forward in the final minute of regulation, which would result in a corner kick, their first of the contest. On the corner, the ball would become loose in the box and Erin Schoberg would capitalize scoring her first goal of the season with 37 seconds left to put UWS in front.

The Saints would get one more mad dash toward the UWS end, but could not find the net as the Yellowjackets advance to Saturday's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament championship with a 1-0 victory.

Goalkeeping
Rudolph made one save in the loss, while Gutekunst had 10 saves in the win.

End of Season
The Saints finish their season with an overall record of 13-5-2. The team replicated last year's win total, but captured the UMAC regular season title for the first time since 2015.

CSS will say goodbye to six seniors: Rachel Dixon (Superior, Wis./Superior HS), Kailee Katt (Esko, Minn./Esko HS (St. Catherine)), Kaitie Marsaa (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS), Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS), Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) and Hannah Zeis (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS). The class made two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances in four seasons.
