SUPERIOR, Wis. (
csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team shut out the University of Wisconsin-Superior 1-0 Tuesday night at Superior High School. The Saints have now blanked the 'jackets three games in a row.
The Action
The only goal of the game came in the 12th minute, when
Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) assisted to
Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS). Up 1-0, CSS kept the pressure on UWS, outshooting the 'jackets 7-3 in the first half. CSS continued to lead in shots in the second.
Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) shot twice within the first three minutes of half, but both shots were saved by the Yellowjackets goalkeeper. The Saints fought hard, recording 13 shots, and limited Superior to zero. The contest ended with a 1-0 score after a scoreless second half.
Notable Performances
Friday recorded seven shots, the most for the Saints. Rancour shot four times, while
Hannah Zeis (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) had three.
CSS goalkeeper
Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) made two saves on the night to extend her shutout streak. UWS' goalkeeper Madison Gutekunst saved 10 out of 11 shots on goal.
