DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com)- The St. Scholastica woman's volleyball team dropped its match with the Hamline University in consecutive sets on Tuesday night in its final regular season contest at Reif Gymnasium.

How It Happened
The Saints battled the Hamline Pipers (11-10) in the first set. Hamline jumped out to an 8-2 lead early on two kills from Morgan Coleman. CSS then fought back, going on a 12-5 run to take the lead 14-13 with an ace from Kelsi Rippberger (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS). The rest of the set went back and forth, with the Pipers prevailing 25-22 recording four of the final five points.

Much like the first set, the second set was also a back and forth battle. Neither team pulled far ahead, with never more than a three point advantage. Down 19-16, St. Scholastica 4-0 run on three Piper attack errors. Hamline took back over with a 6-1 run to win the set 25-22. The Saints were led by three Brooke Schermann (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) kills in the second set.

The third set was dominated by the Pipers from the start. CSS showed some fight, battling back from a 14-9 deficit on two Sofia Rajala (Deer River, Minn./Greenway HS) kills to cut down Hamline's lead to two. The Pipers then went on an 11-2 run to win the third set and take the match in consecutive sets.
