ASHLAND, Wis. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team put a mark in the win column on Wednesday when it defeated Northland College 5-0, scoring four goals in the first half alone.
The Action
The first two goals of the game came from Taylor Olson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS). She scored both within nine minutes of one another, the first coming on a penalty kick just shy of minute 16 and the second coming at the 25th minute which put the Saints up 2-0.
Becca Rancour (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) scored her 11th goal of the season five minutes later to put St. Scholastica up by three. The fourth and final goal of the half came from Mara Roberts (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS), her first of her career. Rancour helped her out on the goal and the teams went into halftime with the Saints leading 4-0.
The second half was a slow one, compared to the first. The Saints got another handful of shots on goal but Megan Jordan made the saves for the LumberJills. Roberts got one past the keeper though, with just two and a half minutes left, her second of the game. This put the score at 5-0 and earned the Saints the conference victory.
Notable Performances
T. Olson and Roberts each had two goals a piece. Rancour had a goal and an assist. Roni Rudolph (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) was between the pipes for CSS, but it was a slow evening for her as the 'Jills didn't manage a single shot on goal.
