Volleyball Suffers Two More Losses in Oshkosh

-Belden led the Saints in kills in three of the four matches this weekend.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team finished the Pizza Hut Classic winless after falling to host University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and No. 22 Millikin University (Ill.) on Saturday.
 
UW-Oshkosh 3, CSS 0
The Saints struggled with the Titans, falling in three sets 25-12, 25-15, 25-18.
 
CSS was held to 25 kills, 14 of which came in the third set. Oshkosh finished with 33 kills, recording at least 10 kills in each set.
 
Nikki Kienzle (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) and Christaia Houser (Esko, Minn./Homeschool) each had six kills to pace the Saints. Emily Kessler (Grand Rapids, Minn./Greenway HS (Itasca CC)) 16 assists and Alex Barsody (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS) had 19 digs.
 
#22 Millikin 3, CSS 1
The Saints concluded play in Oshkosh against 22nd-ranked Big Blue of Millikin. After splitting the first two sets, Millikin closed out the Saints in four.
 
The Big Blue had 59 kills, compared to 31 for the Saints. St. Scholastica's best game was the second set, which it had 14 kills and just two hitting errors. Unfortunately, Millikin took the final two sets 25-14, 25-19.
 
Amanda Belden (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) led the way with nine kills. Kienzle and Houser each added six kills. Espi Austvold (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) led the team with 16 assists and Barsody recorded 20 digs.

The Saints (1-7) get back to action next weekend with the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Preview Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Morris, Minnesota.
