St. Scholastica Saints
2015-16 Stats
Record: 6-13-1, 5-8-1 NCHA
Northern Collegiate Hockey Association: Standings | Stats

Last Action: The Saints snapped Adrian College's 14-game winning streak on Friday with a 2-2 tie … On Saturday, the Saints held a two-goal lead in the third period over the No. 2 Bulldogs, but fell by a score of 3-2 in overtime … Friday's tie marked the first time the Saints tied a nationally-ranked top five team.

What a Weekend: Junior goaltender Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) made a combined 108 saves to set a program record for most saves in back-to-back games … Her 56 saves in Friday's tie matched a program record … Prior to the weekend, her personal career-high for saves in a games was 43 … For her efforts, Hartfiel was named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week.

Where They Stand: With four league games remaining, the Saints are a point behind Concordia for the fourth and final playoff spot … This is the final league series for the Concordia … A Falcon sweep clinches a postseason spot and eliminates the Saints … At the very least, a two-point weekend by CSS will likely get them in the postseason as it finishes the season with two games against winless Finlandia University (Mich.).

Near 50: Senior Taylor Guzzo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley HS (UW-River Falls)) is one point shy from hitting 50 points as a Saint … She already has 50 career points, if you include her two points at UW-River Falls … Junior Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS) also stands one point short of hitting the 50 mark, which would make her the fourth-fastest Saint to hit the milestone … Hanowski has recorded a goal in four straight games.

MacMillan Closing in on 100: Head Coach Jackie MacMillan is three wins shy of 100 career coaching victories … MacMillan recorded 31 wins at New England College in three seasons prior to arriving to CSS and has recorded 66 victories in her six seasons guiding the Saints.

Sawyer the Decider: Sophomore Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) already holds the program record for most career game-winning goals (7) … She currently tied for the single-season record with four.

Instant Impact: Since transferring in at semester, sophomore Mac Johnson (Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS (St. Cloud State)) had recorded 11 points in 11 games.

Must Win the Close Ones: The Saints are 2-6 in one-goal games this season … CSS has lost five of its last eight games by one goal.

Upcoming Opponents
Concordia Wisconsin Falcons
Record: 8-13-1, 6-10-0 NCHA

The Falcons defeated Marian 4-3 in overtime on Saturday to keep their postseason chances alive … Concordia enters the weekend on a three-game winning streak … Sophomore forward Lexi Holman leads the team with 12 goals and 15 assists … Holman and junior Brittany Sticha have combined for 11 power-play goals … Senior Alexis Machuga has also registered 15 assists … Freshman Christina Pattengale has seen a majority of play in net and has a 2.68 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage … The Falcons have lost seven games this season when they were ahead or tied after two periods of play.

Series History: CSS leads 7-3-4

Last Meeting: The Saints defeated the Falcons 3-1 in Duluth in November … Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)), Sawyer and Hanowski all had goals for the Saints … CSS dropped its lone contest in Mequon last season 3-2 and are 2-1-2 all-time on the road against Concordia … The Falcons ended St. Scholastica's season last year with a 2-1 victory in the first round of the Slaats Cup playoffs.
