csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team opened the second half of the season on Friday with a 2-0 setback against Saint Anselm College (N.H.).
The ActionSaint Anselm entered today's contest on a five-game winning streak and came out with a 13-3 shot advantage in the opening period. Ashley Moran got the Hawks on the board with a goal seven minutes and 30 seconds into the game. St. Scholastica's
Kaleigh Hamann (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) hit the post later in the period, but the score remained 1-0 into the third period.
In the third period, after Saint Anselm hit the pipe twice, the Hawks got an insurance goal with less than four minutes remaining when Halle Kent found the back of the net. Both teams finished with 10 shots in the period, but the Hawks came out on top 2-0.
GoaltendingLindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) had 36 saves for the Saints, while Hannah Synnott stopped all 22 shots for her third shutout of the season. Synnott also improves to 9-0-0 on the year.
