PREVIEW: Women's Hockey Back at Mars this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – For the first time since November, the St. Scholastica women's hockey team will be on home ice when it welcomes No. 5 Lake Forest College (Ill.) to Mars Lakeview Arena this weekend for a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) two-game series.

Last Action: The Saints led No. 8 University of Wisconsin-River Falls at both the first and second intermissions, but allowed five third period goals to fall to the Falcons 7-5 on Tuesday night … Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS), Mac Johnson (Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS (St. Cloud State)) and Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) all had a goal and an assist in the loss … The five goal surrendered in the third period was the most in the single period in program history.
 
Where They Stand: The Saints get back to conference play this weekend as they sit fourth in the league with eight points … CSS is two points behind third-place St. Norbert College (Wis.), but have played two less conference games … The Saints are four points ahead of fifth place Concordia University (Wis.) and have a four-game edge in the loss column … Only the top four teams in the league make the postseason.
 
Tough Stretch: With Lake Forest coming in this weekend with a 13-1-1 overall record, the Saints' first three opponents of the second half of the season will have a combined record of 36-4-2 … River Falls was ranked eighth in the USCHO.com Division III poll and Lake Forest is ranked fifth.
