Nick Murphy (Glendale, Ariz./Brophy College Prep ) also caught a touchdown pass for the second consecutive week … The CSS defense recorded four sacks and three interceptions … After allowing 140 yards in the first quarter, CSS allowed only 137 the rest of the game and 44 of those came on a fortunate bounce on a Hail Mary pass at the end of the first half.
Win No. 50: Saturday's victory against MacMurray was the program's 50
th in its eighth season … CSS has averaged seven wins per season through its first seven years.
Continuing the Red Zone Success: In 2014, the Saints finished second in the country with a red zone success rate of 95.8 percent … CSS scored 44 touchdowns in 48 red zone attempts … So far in 2015, the Saints are 5-for-5 in the red zone with three touchdowns and two field goals.
Filling Up the Stat Sheet: Junior linebacker
Mason Bloomquist (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS ) had himself a game against MacMurray on Saturday, recording 10 tackles, including three sacks and an interception for 29 yards that led to the team's first touchdown … For his efforts, Bloomquist was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and the UMAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Special Teams Stepping Up: In Saturday's game against MacMurray, the Saints had three punts downed inside the 5-yard line and two of those were inside the 1-yard-line … CSS also executed and recovered an onside kick to begin the second half.
Keeping the Ball: The Saints had the ball for over 12 minutes more than MacMurray on Saturday and lead the UMAC in time of possession at 33:40 per game.
UMAC Streaks: The Saints have won 22 straight UMAC games; a streak dating back to October 20, 2012 … CSS has lost only one UMAC game in the last four seasons … CSS has also won 19 straight conference road games, dating back to the 2010 season … The last conference road loss came at Martin Luther College on September 25, 2010.
20 is the Magic Number: The Saints are 43-0 since 2010 when they score at least 20 points … They are only 1-16 all-time when they don't reach 20 points … That lone win came against Northwestern in 2010.
