PREVIEW: Final Regular Season Games for Women's Hockey

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team will have its final two games of the regular season this week, beginning with a non-conference matchup with Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday and finishing Saturday at home against St. Norbert College.

The Saints won its lone contest of the weekend with a 4-0 victory over Finlandia University (Mich.) Saturday night … Four different Saints scored in the victory … The Saints out-scored the Lions in the three games 16-0 … Those three shutouts are the only ones this season for CSS … Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) had two of the three, including on Saturday.
 
Where they Stand: One week of conference games remaining a lot has yet to be decided when it comes to the six-team Slaats Cup playoff seedings … We know that Adrian College (Mich.) has clinched the regular season title and will be the No. 1 seed and that Marian University (Wis.) will be the No. 6 seed … With one conference game remaining the Saints are fourth, only one point behind third place Lake Forest College (Ill.) and two points behind second place St. Norbert … However, both of those teams have two conference games remaining … As does fifth place Concordia University Wisconsin, who is three points behind the Saints.
 
Who's Streaking: Sophomore forward Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS) has recorded an assist in five straight games, including two in Saturday's win … Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) has recorded at least one point in five straight games.
 
Distributing: Taylor Guzzo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley HS (UW-River Falls)) matched a Saints season on Saturday assisting on three of the team's four goals … Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) also had three assists in the season opener vs. Marian.
 
Waidacher Hits 150: On Saturday, senior Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) recorded her 20th goal of the season, marking her second consecutive 20-goal year … The goal was also her 150th career point … She becomes the 23rd NCAA Division III player to reach 150 career points and only the third West Region player to do so.
 
Must Win the Close Ones: In each of the last three seasons, the Saints had a winning record in games decided by one goal … CSS had a combined record of 16-7 during that span … This season, the young Saints have a record of 2-5 in games decided by a goal.

St. Norbert will face Finlandia University on Friday before playing the Saints on Saturday … The Green Knights control their own destiny for the No. 2 seed in the NCHA Slaats Cup and a spot in the semifinals … The Green Knights are unbeaten in the their last nine contests, which is the fifth-longest streak in NCAA Division III … St. Norbert has the fifth-best power-play unit in the country with a conversion rate of 24 percent (26-of-107) … Senior forward Ali Parker leads the team with 12 goals, but junior forward Lauren Roethlisberger has a team-high 18 assists and 25 points … Freshman goaltender Leigh Grall has seen over 60 percent of the action in net and has a .932 save percentage and a 1.97 goals-against-average … Both of those rank third in the NCHA.
