Notables-NCHA game-Lake Forest ranked No. 10 in USCHO.com poll-CSS out-shot 82-32 in the series
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team surrendered three second period goals in the span of six minutes in a 3-0 loss to No. 10 Lake Forest College (Ill.) in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action on Sunday.
Second PeriodAfter a scoreless first period, the Foresters (4-0-1, 2-0-0 NCHA) scored 55 seconds into the second period when Michelle Greeneway recorded a power-play goal to make it 1-0. Less than two minutes later, Lake Forest extended its lead to 2-0 on a Melissa Paluch even-strength goal.
The third and final goal of the period and the game came six minutes into the second period when Greeneway found the back of the net for the second time to make it 3-0.
The NumbersThe Saints were out-shot 40-13 in the contest.
Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) made 37 saves in the loss for the Saints, while Allie Carter stopped all 13 for the Foresters to earn the shutout.
Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) led the Saints with four shots.
Both teams committed two penalties in the game.
Up NextThe Saints (1-2-0, 1-1-0 NCHA) will have their home opener next weekend when it welcomes St. Norbert College to Mars Lakeview Arena for a two-game series. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
