New Ulm, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team fell to Martin Luther College 66-55 despite 21 points from Brittani Brennan (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS).

It was a slow start for both teams with only 19 points scored in the first ten minutes of the game. 11 my Martin Luther and eight scored by CSS.

The game stayed fairly close for most of the remainder of the first half with no team gaining a real substantial lead. However, with the score tied at 22 apiece and 3:28 to go in the half, Martin Luther rattled off eight straight points including a layup with two seconds to go en route to 30-22 lead going into the halftime locker room.

The Saints started the second half with a vengeance and tied the game in just four minutes on an 8-0 run of their own to set the score at 30-30 with 16:00 to go in the game.

Unfortunately the Knights would answer the Saints 8-0 run by building a double digit lead twice in the next ten minutes. CSS would try to fight back, but it proved to be in vein as Martin Luther built up a lead as high as 16 points on the way to an eventual 11 point victory at 66-55.

Mariah Schoof finished with 21 points to lead the Knights in scoring to along with 11 rebounds.

The Saints scored just four bench points compared to 33 points for the Knights.

CSS (6-11, 3-3 UMAC) will next be in action tomorrow when they travel to Mankato, Minnesota to take on Bethany Lutheran College with that game set to tip off at 3 p.m. Catch all the action live at Saints Sports Net.
