ST. BONAFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica women's basketball defeated Crown College 61-49 Friday night in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup at the Wild Athletic Center.
The Saints outscored Crown 27-21 in the first half of play. CSS made 2-of-3 3-point attempts and converted 5-of-6 free throws while shooting 10-of-24 from the field overall in the opening half of basketball.
CSS never trailed in the first half.
In the second half the Saints continued to shoot efficiently converting on 50% of field goals attempted and going 1-for-1 from 3-point range.
Holly Peterson (Rochester, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) led St. Scholastica in scoring with a season-best 14 points.
Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) was the second-leading scorer for CSS with 12 points.
Desiree Davis finished the game with 15 points and nine rebounds for Crown.
St. Scholastica has now won two games in a row and three of its last five contests.
The Saints continue UMAC play on Saturday when they hit the road to take on the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars at 3 p.m.
