MOORHEAD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team suffered its fourth loss in a row Sunday evening in a 2-0 loss to the #18 ranked Concordia-Moorhead at the Cobber Invite.
The first half had a slow pace as there were only four total shots in the entire half, with all of them coming from a Cobber player. Concordia struck first at the 12:30 mark with a shot that came from inside the box by Elizabeth Robinson. The Cobbers had a few other chances from inside the box but the Saints defense held strong to keep the score at 1-0 going into halftime.
CSS came out in the second half with a couple of opportunities to even the score but were not able to capitalize as the first shot was saved by the Cobber goalie while the second was just high of the goal post. Those would be the only shots of the game for the Saints. Concordia would tally an insurance goal from Rochelle Hickerson in the 81
st minute to seal the game with a final score of 2-0.
Elizabeth Bitzan saved one shot in the win for the Cobbers, while
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) took the loss for the Saints.
The Saints will look to get in the win column on Saturday in their home opener against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The action will start at 2 p.m. at Saints Field.
