Saints Win Fourth Straight Over Bethany Lutheran 5-0

Notables:

-Saints senior Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) breaks program's career points record with her five-point day.
-Kehtel and Hamm scored two goals apiece for St. Scholastica.

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica women's soccer (4-5-0, 4-0-0 UMAC) won its fourth straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game over Bethany Lutheran College (2-6-1, 1-2-0 UMAC) 5-0 on Friday afternoon at Saints Field.
 
The Saints took an early lead in their match against Bethany Lutheran scoring in the 22nd minute off a corner kick. Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) got the marker for the Saints with her second goal of the year.
 
St. Scholastica provided a consistent attacking threat to the Vikings net outshooting their opponent 9-to-3 and winning four corner kicks compared to Bethany Lutheran's one in the opening half.
 
Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) and Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) led the way for St. Scholastica in the second half. Hamm scored her second goal of the game in the 51st minute after Kehtel's initial shot hit the cross bar.
 
Not to be denied, Kehtel added her team leading fourth and fifth goals of the season in the 60th and 63rd minutes. In the process, Kehtel also broke the program's career points record previously held by Robin Johnson with her five-point night.
 
Morgan Osborne (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter HS) scored a late goal to extend the Saints lead to 5-0 in the 81st minute. Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) was credited with two assists in the game. Britton leads the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with six assists on the season. Viking's goalkeeper Megan Zeller made eight saves on the night and Nicole Moldstad lead the team with three shots.
 
St. Scholastica is at home again to take on Crown College Saturday at 12 p.m.
