ASHLAND, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team got its first victory of the season over Upper Midwest Athletic Conference foe Northland College 3-0 breaking a five-game losing streak.

The Saints wasted little time taking the lead in the first half putting away two quick goals.  Morgan Osborne (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter HS) opened the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 22nd minute and Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) added another in the 24th minute.  CSS attacked the LumberJills net aggressively totaling 13 shots in the first half, eight of those on target, and winning three corner kicks.

The second half was much of the same for the Saints offensively as they continued to fire away at the Northland net totaling 15 shots in the half. Alexi Bopray (River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) grabbed the lone marker in the 60th minute with her first goal of the season. Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) supplied assists on the Osborne and Bopray goals to go along with six shots on goal. Overall CSS outshot the Lumberjills 28-2 with Northland goalkeeper Emily Romauld making a season high 20 saves. For the Saints, goalkeeper Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) posted her first clean sheet of the season stopping both Northland shots.

The Saints are back in action this Friday at 2 p.m. when they hit the road to take on North Central University.
