Saints Blank Falcons

Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's hockey team topped Concordia University (Wis.) 3-0 Friday night in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) competition at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Neither team scored in the first period as the Falcons had an 8-7 edge in shots. 

Monika Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftsschule KV Chur (Swiss National Team)) put a point on the scoreboard for the Saints on a power play five minutes into the second period.  Waidacher deflected an Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) slap shot for CSS's second goal, also on the power-play, midway through the third period. Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) assisted both goals.

Later in the third, Michelle Rebeck (St. Andrews, Manitoba/Balmoral Hall) solidified the Saints win with an empty net goal with a minute to go in the game.  Blair recorded the assist.

Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) was in net for the Saints and saved 22 shots to earn her third shutout of the season.  Jennifer DeGeorge was in goal for the Falcons and saw 28 shots during the game. CSS was 2-for-2 on the power play, while Concordia went 0-for-2.

The Saints (12-6-3, 10-3-2 NCHA) will have its first official senior night tomorrow and host Marian University (Wis.) (4-13-1, 3-9 NCHA) at Mars Lakeview Arena. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. Tune into watch the action live on Saints Sports Net.
