| By:
Box Score DE PERE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team had a chance to claim the NCHA regular season title, but fell at St. Norbert College 2-1 on Saturday in the regular season finale.

With Lake Forest College (Ill.) defeating Marian 3-2, the Foresters claim the Kronschnabel Trophy as regular season champions. The Saints will be the No. 2 seed in the Slaats Cup playoffs and get a bye into the semifinals. The semifinals will take place on Friday, February 28th at Lake Forest against an opponent to be determined.

The Saints (15-7-3, 12-4-2 NCHA) got off to a great start as Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) scored 25 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 St. Scholastica. Logergren has now scored a goal in four straight games and has recorded a point in five straight contests. Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) was credited with an assist.

The Green Knights (17-6-3, 11-5-1 NCHA) tied it up with 1:14 left in the opening period on an Andrea Senne goal to make it 1-1 at the first intermission. CSS out-shot St. Norbert 18-10 in the first 20 minutes.

The score remained 1-1 until there was less than five minutes left in the third period. That's when St. Norbert's Jillian Kosteck found the back of the net to make it 2-1. That score held as St. Norbert spoiled CSS's run for a regular season title.

Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) had 30 saves in the loss for the Saints. Kaley Gibson had 41 saves in the victory for the Green Knights. The Saints were 0-for-5 on the power-play.
