LAKE FOREST, Ill. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica women's soccer lost its first round matchup of the NCAA Division III Tournament 2-1 in overtime to No. 10 Lake Forest College (Ill.)
The Saints and Foresters played a tightly contested opening half of soccer in their first round NCAA Tournament matchup. The game took an unfortunate turn early for St. Scholastica with starting goalkeeper
Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) injured in the first two minutes.
Reeves was replaced by
Annie Michels (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret’s ) who went on to play a strong half making eight saves as the Foresters generated a continually dangerous attack and pressured the Saints heavily on the ball to force turnovers and regain possession. CSS did create opportunities of their own.
Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) recorded two shots on goal in the half.
The game would remain scoreless until the 38
th minute when Michelle Greeneway of Lake Forest College found the back of the net on a cross from Nina Perkkio. It didn't take long for the Saints to answer back, however, as

th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
In the second half St. Scholastica traded chances with LFC but neither team could find a goal. The Foresters fired 10 shots but only two shots required saves from Michels. CSS managed only two shots in the half with one on net. Both teams fought hard but overtime would be needed to settle the game.
Lake Forest College was finally able to beat Saints keeper

Michelle Greeneway was credited with her second goal of the game to give the Foresters the win. Holly Lesperance and Nina Perkkio contributed the assists on the game-winning goal.
Annie Michels (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret’s ) finished the game with 10 saves. Kehtel,
Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech), and
Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) combined for six of the Saints seven total shots.
St. Scholastica finished the 2014 season with an overall record of 15-7-1 and 13-0-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).
The Foresters await the winner of the matchup between Aurora University and Concordia-Moorhead for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday at Farwell Field.
