PREVIEW: Pivotal Weekend for Women's Hockey

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team remains on the road this weekend for a pair of key Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) contests as it heads to Adrian (Mich.) on Friday and Lake Forest (Ill.) on Saturday.

St. Scholastica Saints
Record:
 10-5-3 (8-2-2 NCHA)
Head Coach: Jackie MacMillan
-CSS is tied with Adrian for first place in the league with 18 points. Lake Forest is two points back in third.
-The Saints are coming off a three point weekend at Concordia University (Wis.), winning Friday's game 3-1 and rallying to tie Saturday's contest 3-3.
-After picking up a goal on the weekend, Isabel Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Graubunden Canton School (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) is tied for leading the Saints and nation with 36 points.
-Captain Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) picked up two assists on the weekend, which places her second in the nation for assists with 20.
-The Saints' power play had a strong showing after going 1-for-3 on Friday and 2-for-4 on Saturday. The Saints currently lead the nation with a power-play percentage of .342.
-Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) is second in the NCHA with a save percentage of .927 and is third with a goals-against average of 2.18.
-The Saints are 9-1-1 when leading after two periods, but are 1-4-2 when trailing or tied at the second intermission.

Adrian College Bulldogs
Record: 16-3-0 (9-3-0 NCHA)
Head Coach: Chad Davis
-The Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins last weekend against Finlandia University by scores of 5-0 and 7-1 to extend their winning streak to 10 games.
-Kelsey Kusch leads the Bulldogs and is tied for first in the nation with 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points.
-Behind Kusch, Hannah McGowan has tallied 23 points, and Kristin Lewicki has recorded 20 points for the Bulldogs so far this season.
-In net, Jade Walsh has a .925 save percentage, good enough for third in the NCHA.
-Adrian is second in the nation for goals-per-game with 4.95, and is also tied for second in average penalty minutes with 14.74 minutes per game.
Series History: (CSS is 2-5-1 vs. Adrian)
-The Saints and Bulldogs split their series in December, after the Saints won Friday's game 7-3 and then dropped Saturday's 3-2. 

Lake Forest College Foresters
Record: 9-4-3 (7-3-2 NCHA)
Head Coach: Carisa Zuban
-The Foresters are coming off a pair of wins against Marian University last weekend, taking the first game 9-0 and the second 5-1.
-The Foresters will face Finlandia University on Friday, and then face the Saints for Saturday's match.
-Michelle Greenway leads the Foresters and is fourth in the NCHA with 27 points.
-Morgan Pope has 20 points for the Foresters, while Melissa Paluch and Logan Taylor both have recorded 19 points thus far.
-Freshman goaltender Casey Hartfiel, cousin to Saints goaltender Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS), holds a .897 save percentage and a 2.37 goals-against average.
Series History: (CSS is 3-6-3 vs. Lake Forest)
-Earlier this season, the Saints and Foresters tied 6-6 in the first contest and then the Saints took the second game 8-2.
