PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Travels to U.P. of Michigan

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team will play its final non-conference game of the regular season on Saturday when it takes on Finlandia University (Mich.) at 2 p.m. Eastern time.

- Head Coach Stacy Deadrick is only one win shy of her 250th of her career.
- The Saints are coming off a loss against border rival UW-Superior on New Year's Eve. Erin Frase (Phillips, Wis./Phillips HS (UW-River Falls)) led the team with 14 points and Kelsey Sorenson-Giffrow (Braham, Minn./Braham HS (Minn. Duluth)) was right behind her with 13 points.
- Frase was recently named the UMAC Player of the Week after scoring a season-high 20 points and added 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season in a victory over UW-Ricer Falls last Sunday.
- Sorenson-Giffrow leads the Saints in scoring with an 11.3 average per game with Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) right behind her with a 10.5 average per game.
- Sorenson-Giffrow is tops in the UMAC in 3-point percentage, shooting the long ball at a rate of 43.5 percent. Elena Huber (Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) is also shooting well from deep as she has a 37.9, 3-point percentage, which is fifth in the conference.
- The Saints recorded a season-high in points the last time they faced Finlandia by scoring 83 points in that win.
- CSS will be looking for their fifth non-conference win of the regular season. They have only reached that mark three times since the 2004-05 season. Most recently happened during the 2009-10 season.

- The Lions are coming off a 65-51 win against Lawrence University (Wis.) on Thursday.
- The Lions have been outscored by an average of 24.7 points a game and average 18.7 turnovers a game.
- Finlandia has three players scoring in the double figures with Marissa Burke leading the team with 14.6 points per game. Hailey Gervais and Brierra Ruska follow Burke with 13.7 and 10.6 points per game respectively.
- Burke also leads the team in rebounds averaging eight rebounds a game.
Series History: (CSS is 22-9 vs. Finlandia)
- The Saints have won seven of the last eight meetings.
- The Saints won the first meeting this season with an 83-55 victory at the Reif.
