Saints Hold Strong, Fall Short Late

Box Score RIVER FALLS, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The ninth-ranked St. Scholastica women's hockey team lost its third straight game as sixth-ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls  scored a couple goals in the final three minutes of the third period to defeat the Saints 2-0 Friday afternoon. 

Saints goaltender Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) faced 35 shots as Ashley Kuechle of River Falls took 19 shots. 

There was no scoring for the first 57 minutes of the contest until the Falcons Kait Mason found the back of the net with 2:32 left in the third period.  Mason was assisted by Leah Gefroh.

With an empty net two minutes and 13 seconds later, Katie Batters solidified the Falcons victory. Batters was unassisted.

Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play. The Saints have been shut out the last two consecutive games. That is the first time that has happened since the program's inaugural season.

The Saints, now 9-4-2, will face the Falcons again Saturday at 2:05 p.m.
