NORTHFIELD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team finished eighth out of 16 schools at Saturday's St. Olaf Invitational, but was the fifth-best Division III School in the field.
The Saints finished with 180 points, while the host, St. Olaf, won the meet with 52 points. Sioux Falls was second with 84 points and Carleton was third with 103 points. The University of St. Thomas was fourth with 117 points.
Sophomore
Chris Lawson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) led the Saints for the first time this season, just edging senior teammate
Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) in 22nd place overall with a time of 26:16.8. Habermann was 23rd, three-tenths of a second behind Lawson.
Freshmen
Jacob Gallagher (Lisbon, N.D./Lisbon HS) and
Jimmy Lovrien (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) were the next to finish for the Saints. Gallagher was 37th overall with a time of 26:55.5 and Lovrien was 56th at 27:16.5.
Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS), who led the Saints in the previous two races, was the final Saint to score in 57th place at 27:17.0.
Kelin Dunfee (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central HS) was 87th with a time of 28:00.6 and
Ryan Soule (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) was 136th with a time of 29:06.4.
The Saints will be at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational next Saturday. Their race is scheduled to start at 10:40 a.m.
