NORTHFIELD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team finished a program-best 13th out of 26 teams on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College.

The host, St. Olaf, won the meet with 51 points. Central College (Iowa) was second with 61 points. Both St. Olaf and Central automatically qualify for next weekend's NCAA Division III Championships.

Luther College (Iowa) was third with 127 points, Carleton College fourth with 139 points and Loras College (Iowa) rounded out the top five with 140 points. The Saints would finish with 462 points.

Sophomore Chris Lawson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) led the Saints with a 36th place finish with a time of 26:12. He finished a second behind the 35th place finisher, which is important because only the top 35 runners earn all-region accolades.

Fellow sophomore Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) came in 82nd place with a time of 27:16. In his final race, senior Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) was 99th overall, posting a time of 27:39.

Kelin Dunfee (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central HS) was the fourth Saint to cross the finish line in 110th place with a time of 27:56. Jacob Gallagher (Lisbon, N.D./Lisbon HS) was the final Saint to score as he came home 135th with a time of 28:39.

Tim Dunstan (Dollar Bay, Mich./Dollar Bay HS) ran a time of 29:09 to place 145th. Senior Brian Riley (Redwood Falls, Minn./Redwood Valley HS) was 149th with a time of 29:23.

With the conclusion of today's race, the St. Scholastica Men's Cross Country season comes to an end. For future news on the CSS men's cross country team, keep checking csssaints.com.
