DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica football team will honor 18 players on Saturday for Senior Day as the University of Minnesota Morris visits Duluth East's Ordean Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

-St. Scholastica will be celebrating Senior Day this coming weekend, honoring 16 seniors. The 2013 Senior Class has the most wins in program history to date with 32 with two games left in the regular season.
-CSS is coming off of a 38-25 road victory over the Eureka College Red Devils.

Jake Jensen (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul HS) broke the program record for career touchdowns, scoring three, including having 200 all-purpose yards in the game.

Alec French (Isanti, Minn./St. Francis HS) led the Saints defense with 15 tackles and DB
Mike LaValley (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) picked up his fifth interception of the year, putting him in a tie for the conference lead.
-The CSS offense is second in the UMAC averaging 461.4 yards per game including 275.0 yards on the ground per game.
-The Saints rushing attack has outgained opponents by nearly 1,000 yards as CSS has accumulated 1,998 on the year compared to just 992 by opponents.

Cory Gebhard (St. Croix Falls, Wis./St. Croix Falls HS) is third in the UMAC with eight touchdowns and averages 79.1 yards receiving per game.
-The Saints are 28-for-32 inside the red zone, 88-percent, which ranks them first in the UMAC.
-CSS's defense ranks 29th in the nation and holds UMAC opponents to 263.9 yards per game. The Saints lead the UMAC in sacks (23) and are tied for the top position with three defensive touchdowns.
-French leads the defense with 78 tackles followed by the linebacking corps of
Keaton Rush (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS),
Tyler Zurn (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS), and
Paul Olson (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) with 65, 57, and 50 tackles, respectively.
-CSS has combined to outscore opponents 142-26 in the second and third quarters.

University of Minnesota Morris Cougars

-Morris is coming off of a 35-32 loss to Martin Luther College this past weekend.
-Five of its six losses this season have been by eight points or less, including the last two games by a total of six points.
-QB Caleb McLaren has completed 132 passes for 1768 yards and 18 touchdowns and ranks third in UMAC with 252.6 passing yards per game.
-Dustin Spohn leads the UMM rushing attack with six touchdowns, but the Cougars average just 89 yards on the ground per game in UMAC play.
-The Cougars have gotten the running game going the last couple of weeks with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games for the first time this season.
-Brendon Foss leads the receiving corps with nine touchdown catches on 61 receptions to go along with 731 receiving yards. Foss has averaged nine receptions in the last two meetings with the Saints.
-LB Cody Hickman leads the Cougars and the UMAC with 115 tackles.
-The Cougars allow 463.1 yards per game, including 250 yards on the ground.
Series History: (CSS is 4-1 vs. Minnesota Morris)
The Saints and Cougars met in Morris last year to end the 2012 season. CSS needed a victory to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Saints jumped out to a 21-0 lead only to see the Cougars tie the game at 21-21 at the end of the third quarter. Tyler Harper (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) put the Saints ahead for good with two minutes left in the game with a 10 yard TD pass. The Saints defense would force a turnover on downs in the final seconds, sealing the victory for CSS. |
