WINNECONNE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team finished 26th out of 37 teams on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational held at Lake Breeze Golf Club.
The Saints, who were without one of their top runners
Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS), ended with 729 points. The race featured eight nationally-ranked squads, including top-ranked North Central College (Ill.) who won the meet with 33 points. Third-ranked Washington University-St. Louis was second with 64 points. No. 14 UW-Eau Claire was third with 133 points.
Chris Lawson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) paced the Saints with a 63rd place finish in a time of 25:43. Lawson has led the Saints in each of the last four races.
Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) was 181st overall with a time of 26:41.
Kelin Dunfee (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central HS) was the third Saint to cross in a time of 27:25, which placed him 274th.
Ryan Soule (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) came in 369th, finishing in 28:16. The final Saint to score was
Jacob Gallagher (Lisbon, N.D./Lisbon HS) in 389th with a time of 28:30.
The Saints will next be at the 2013 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships on Saturday, November 2nd in New Brighton at the Brightwood Hills Golf Course.
