Dodge’s Three Point Effort Leads Women’s Hockey Past Wildcats

| By:
Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team scored the final three goals of the night and senior Gina Dodge (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minn.-Duluth)) had a hand in all of them as the Saints defeated St. Catherine University 4-1 on Tuesday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The first 10 minutes of the contest would see the Saints get just one shot on net, but CSS was the team that got the scoring started when Michelle Rebeck (St. Andrews, Manitoba/Balmoral Hall) scored her third of the season with 3:19 left in the period. Brittney Berger (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo HS (Madison Capitals)) was credited with the assist.

The Wildcats (7-5-0) answered 14 seconds later when Mallory Ryan scored to make it 1-1 at the first intermission.

The second period went much like the first with little action for the first 16 minutes until Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) made a nice 1-on-1 move and beat the goaltender with the backhand to put the Saints in front 2-1 at the second intermission. Dodge earned the assist.

St. Scholastica added insurance with seven minutes left in the third as Dodge received a nice pass from Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) and finished to make it 3-1. Logergren was also credited with an assist.

Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) put the nail in the coffin with slap shot from the point, beating the goaltender through the five hole and just crossing the goal line with less than two minutes to play to make the final 4-1. Alana Levido (Richmond, British Columbia/Burnaby North Secondary (Pacific Steelers)) and Dodge were credited with the assists.

Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine/Brewster Academy (New England College)) made 25 saves to earn her seventh win of the season, while Samantha Geissler had 18 saves in the loss for St. Kate's. The Wildcats did outshoot the Saints 26-22 in the contest.

The Saints (7-4-2) will be back in conference action this weekend when they head to the U.P. to face Finlandia University on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. eastern time.
