Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team rebounded from a loss to St. Olaf the previous night to win 2-1 versus St. Catherine University with a goal from
Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) in the third period Saturday afternoon at Drake Arena.
The opening period saw the Saints take a 1-0 lead with a goal from Jordan Klimek. The goal came at the 15:47 mark and was unassisted.
The second period was in favor of St. Catherine with an even-strength goal at the 16:29 mark.
The final period saw the Saints finally grab the lead for good with a goal from Fischer with the assist going to
Gina Dodge (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minn.-Duluth)). The goal came four minutes and 32 seconds into the period.
The teams were unable to find the net for the rest of the game and the Saints would prevail 2-1.
St. Catherine (7-4-0) was able to get 23 shots on net for the game, was penalized once for two minutes, and won 26-of-48 face-offs.
Samantha Geissler led St. Catherine with 25 saves in net.
The Saints were able to get 27 shots on goal, were penalized twice for four minutes, and won 22-of-48 face-offs.
Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine/Brewster Academy (New England College)) had a solid game in net stopping 22 of 23 shots, including 11 in the second period.
The Saints (6-4-2) will host St. Catherine this coming Tuesday at Mars Lakeview Arena. The teams will faceoff at 7 p.m. local time. This will be the first home game for the Saints in over a month. Tune into csssaints.com for live broadcast of this game.
