Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team led twice, but had to settle for a 3-3 tie with 10th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday afternoon at Wessman Arena.
After a scoreless first period, the Saints got on the board when
Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) scored her 12th goal of the season three minutes and 30 seconds in the second period.
Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) picked up her league-best 21st assist.
With 13 minutes to go in the second, CSS extended its lead to 2-0 when
Briana Stephens (Chicago, Ill./Hopkins HS (Minn.)) scored.
Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) was credited with the assist.
The Yellowjackets got back into the contest in unlikely fashion, scoring a pair of short-handed goals with Kiara De kezel getting the first and Dani Schultz the second as the score was 2-2 at the second intermission.
The Saints took the lead again with 12:45 left in the third when
Alana Levido (Richmond, British Columbia/Burnaby North Secondary (Pacific Steelers)) netted a power-play goal.
Gina Dodge (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minn.-Duluth)) earned the assist. It remained that way until the 'jackets tied it up with 3:01 left in regulation on a Chelsey Wierschem goal.
Neither team would score in the overtime period and the game ended in a 3-3 tie. The first tie in the sixth meeting between the Bridge Rivals.
Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine/Brewster Academy (New England College)) made a season-high 35 saves for the Saints and Shanley Peters had 23 saves for UWS.
The Saints (9-5-3, 6-4-2 NCHA) will be at home next weekend when they host Lake Forest College (Ill.) for a two-game series at Mars Lakeview Arena. Action begins Friday at 4 p.m. in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
