McKenzie Paces Men’s Cross Country in Season Opener

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Freshman Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) placed eighth overall to lead the St. Scholastica men's cross country team to a third place finish on Saturday at the Tom Barry Invitational, hosted by St. Norbert College.

The Saints finished with 101 points, while the host, St. Norbert College, won with 33 points. Lawrence University (Wis.) was second with 64 points.

McKenzie finished in a time of 21:31.5 and he was followed closely by fellow freshman Chris Lawson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village), who placed 10th in 21:37.2.

Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) was the third Saint to cross the line in 20th place in a time of 22:06.2. Ethan Schubert (Two Harbors, Minn./Home School) was 24th with a time of 22:13.7 and rounding out the scoring was Ryan Soule (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) in 39th posting a time of 23:15.2.

The Saints will compete next at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, September 15th. That will be the same course where the NCAA Central Regional meet will be held.
