Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team opened its 2012-13 campaign with a 75-52 loss to Concordia College-Moorhead on Saturday at Reif Gymnasium.

Both teams exchanged baskets early with the Saints jumping out to a 12-8 lead six minutes into the contest. CSS led 17-16 until the Cobbers went on an 8-0 run thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers as Concordia took a 24-17 lead. The Cobbers extended their lead to 13 at the end of the half as the halftime score was 43-30.

Concordia (1-1) shot 63 percent from the field in the first half with most of the points coming from the paint. The Saints shot 39 percent from the field with Kayla Heisler (Remer, Minn./Northland HS) scoring 11 points.

Heisler drained a 3-pointer to start the second half to cut the margin to 10, but that is as close as the Saints got as the Cobbers slowly grew its lead throughout the second half and ended up winning by a final margin of 75-52.

CSS finished with a shooting percentage of 32 percent, while the Cobbers ended at 51 percent. Concordia outscored the Saints 48-14 in the paint and 20-9 in second-chance points. The Cobbers doubled-up the Saints in rebounds 52-26.

Heisler led CSS with 14 points, making four 3-pointers. Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) added 13 points. Erin Frase (Phillips, Wis./Phillips HS (UW-River Falls)) chipped in nine points. Both Heisler and Hovick led the team with six rebounds apiece. Alexandra Lippert led four Cobbers in double-figures with a game-high 15 points and 15 rebounds.

The Saints will be at home again on Tuesday night when they host another MIAC program in Augsburg College at Reif Gymnasium. The action is slated to begin at 7 p.m. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
