Women’s Hockey Rebounds from Friday’s Loss, Downs St. Norbert 6-1

Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team received six goals from six different players to power over St. Norbert 6-1 less than 12 hours after suffering a 4-2 defeat.

The Saints struck first as Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) found the back of the net off of the first of Alana Levido (Richmond, British Columbia/Burnaby North Secondary (Pacific Steelers))'s three assists on the afternoon at 10:40 in the first. Levido picked up an assist on the power-play as Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) scored with 1:26 left in the first period to put the score at 2-0 at the first intermission.

The Saints continued to apply the pressure, exploding for four goals in the second period, as Briana Stephens (Chicago, Ill./Hopkins HS (Minn.)) scored courtesy of Levido's third assist less than four minutes in. The Saints added another goal as Brittany Berger scored off the pass from Cara McMannis (Holland, Manitoba/Treherne Collegiate Institute (Pembina Valley Hawks)), extending the lead to 4-0 with nine minutes left in the period.

CSS also tallied a pair of power-play goals in the second as well, as Jordy Klimek (Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) found Kaitlyn Johnston at the seven minute mark to push the game to 5-0. Gina Dodge (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minn.-Duluth)) scored the final goal of the period and the game for the Saints, as Waidacher found Dodge on the power-play, giving the Saints a large 6-0 lead after two periods.

St. Norbert would break the shutout late in the third period, as Jade Popescul scored the lone Green Knight goal.

CSS goalie Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine/Brewster Academy (New England College)) made 34 saves in the win for the Saints, who improve to 2-1-1 on the year (2-1-1 NCHA). For St. Norbert, Kaley Gibson made 24 saves in the losing effort as the Green Knights fall to 2-1-1 (1-1 NCHA).

The Saints return home for their next contest as they host Hamline University Tuesday night in a non-conference game at 7 p.m. at Mars Lakeview Arena. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
