The CSS women's hockey team scored three unanswered to down the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers 3-2 at Ice Hawks Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The win over the Pointers (9-6-2, 8-3-1 NCHA) snaps a three-game winless streak for the Saints who are now in a three way tie for third place with Stevens Point and UW-Superior in the NCHA.

It was the Pointers who started off the scoring seven minutes into the game when Brooke Hanson scored her second goal of the series on an assist from Ariel Novak to make it 1-0 UWSP.  The score remained at that heading into the first intermission.

The Pointers had a repeat performance in the second period when Erin Marvin scored a power play goal at the 12:21 mark to give Stevens Point a two goal advantage.  Novak and Nicole Schaub got assists on the play.

The Saints began their comeback less than four minutes later when Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) scored on a Frankie Bergman (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Duluth Northern Stars)) assist to cut the Pointer's lead in half.

CSS would strike again with 38 seconds left in the period on an unassisted goal by Jordy Klimek (Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) to knot things up at two going into the second intermission.

At the 13:24 point in the third period Kaitlin Johnston (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater HS) notched her first goal since November 19 on assists from Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) and Briana Stephens (Chicago, Ill./Hopkins HS (Minn.)) to make it 3-2 in favor of the Saints.  The go-ahead goal eventually became the game winner and the Saints departed Stevens Point with a 3-2 victory under their belt.

Shannon Connolly (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) made 24 saves in the winning effort as her record improves to 6-2-2 on the year.

Fischer's goal now gives her five on the season and she moves into a tie for second on the team with 18 points.  Klimek's goal moves her into a tie for second with seven goals on the year and 15 total points.

The Saints (10-4-3, 8-3-1 NCHA) return home next weekend to host the St. Norbert College Green Knights (7-11-0, 5-8-0 NCHA) in a Saturday-Sunday series.  Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at Mars Lakeview Arena.  All the action can be seen on the GameCentral portal at csssaints.com
