The CSS women's hockey team was shut out by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers 2-0 at Ice Hawks Arena on Friday night.
The loss to the Pointers (9-5-2, 8-2-1 NCHA) extends the Saints winless streak to three after a weekend of ties at Augsburg last week.
The first period was a quiet one as the Saints'
Shannon Connolly (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) and the Pointers' Janna Beilke-Skoug made five and six saves respectively to keep the game scoreless going into the first intermission.
The second period appeared to be the same story until Brooke Hanson struck on an unassisted goal with 1:56 left to give UWSP a 1-0 lead going into the second intermission.
Five and a half minutes into the third Allie Tanzer put in a second goal on an assist from Hanson to make it 2-0 Stevens Point. The goal proved to be unnecessary as Hanson earned a shut out en route to a 2-0 Pointer victory.
Connolly was the goalie on record for CSS as her record falls to 5-2-2 on the season.
The Saints (9-4-3, 7-3-1 NCHA) will take on the Pointers again tomorrow afternoon at Ice Hawks Arena. The puck drop will be at 2:30 p.m. in Stevens Point. Stay tuned to csssaints.com for a full recap following the game.
