MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie to finish a two-game non-conference series with Augsburg College on Sunday afternoon.

The Saints once again out-shot Augsburg by a considerable margin (45-18), but could not get a lead on the Auggies. The Saints had a 30-10 advantage in the first two periods, but the game remained scoreless heading into the third period.

In the third, Augsburg leader scorer Rachel Hennessy put the Auggies in front one minute and 29 seconds into the period. The Saints quickly tied the game 13 seconds later on a Briget Cojocar (Limerick, Saskatchewan/Lafleche HS (Melville Prairie Fire)) goal.

Those would be the only two goals of the game as the Auggies and Saints played to a 1-1 tie. The Auggies would not get a shot on goal in overtime, while the Saints had two.

Shannon Connolly (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) made 17 saves for the Saints and Alex Hall had 44 saves for the Auggies (5-4-4). Both teams went a combined 0-for-7 on the power-play.

The Saints (9-3-3) get back to Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action next weekend when they travel to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a two-game series beginning on Friday night at 7 p.m.
