GREEN BAY, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team finished fifth out of eight teams on Saturday in the season-opening Tom Barry Invitational, hosted by St. Norbert College at Colburn Park.
The host, St. Norbert College, won the meet with 38 points. Carroll University (Wis.) was second with 60 points. Lawrence University was third with 70 points. CSS had 123 points to finish fifth, but fourth amongst collegiate teams, as the St. Norbert Alumni was fourth. The invite is a four-mile race.
The Saints were led by freshman
Alex Schoneberger (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS), who finished 14th with a time of 22:24.
Ethan Schubert (Two Harbors, Minn./Home School),
Ben Carlson (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS (Saint Mary’s)), and
Jimmy Linn (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) finished 25th, 26th, and 27th respectively. Schubert ran 23:09, Carlson finished at 23:15, while Linn was at 23:25.
Matthew Quanrud (Preston, Minn./Filmore Central HS) and
Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) finished 31st and 32nd. Quanrud finished in a time of 23:43 and Habermann was two seconds behind him.
Tony Bye (Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell HS) was 34th, posting a time of 23:49.
The Saints will have a next weekend off and will compete next at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, September 17th at 11:15 a.m.
