Men’s Cross Country Runs 11th at St. Olaf Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team placed 11th out of 14 teams with 338 points on Saturday at the St. Olaf Invitational.

Division II Minnesota State won the meet with 36 points. The host, St. Olaf College, was second with 56 points. Central College (Iowa) was third with 86 points.

Senior Tony Bye (Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell HS) led the Saints, finishing 59th overall with a time of 28:01. Bye edged freshman teammate Alex Schoneberger (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS), who ran an identical time, but placed 60th overall.

Ben Carlson (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS (Saint Mary’s)) was in 70th with a time of 28:28. Jimmy Linn (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) was four spots behind Carlson, posting a time of 28:39. Ethan Schubert (Two Harbors, Minn./Home School) was the last CSS runner to get into the points, finishing in a time of 28:43, which was good enough for 75th.

Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) was in 78th with a time of 29:11 and Matthew Quanrud (Preston, Minn./Filmore Central HS) was right behind him in 79th with an identical time.

The Saints will have a recovery weekend next week and will be in action next on September 30th in a rare Friday evening meet at the Blugold Open, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
