Saints Send Seniors Out With a Win

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team defeated Presentation College on Senior Day 90-86 at Reif Gymnasium on Saturday.

A layup by #Bri Allen# three minutes in tied the game at 6-6. The next four minutes the Saints (10-15, 7-7 UMAC) would go on a 14-4 run to take a 20-10 lead. With less than eight minutes left in the first half the CSS were ahead 31-21, however Presentation (9-16, 4-10 UMAC) would go on an 18-8 run to tie the game at 39-39 with 1:55 remaining in the half. CSS would close the half with a lead of 45-42.

The Saints shot 53-percent from the field in the first half, while Presentation shot 35-percent. # Lindsey Kingsbury (Keewatin, Minn./Nashwauk-Keewatin HS)# led the Saints with seven points in the first half; however Presentation's Nicky Rausch had a game-high with 13 points in the first 20 minutes. The Saints bench produced more points then the starters with 27 off the bench, and only 18 from the starters.

The Saints started the second half with a 15-9 run to push their lead to 60-51, however Presentation answered right back with 11-0 run to retake the lead with 10:38 remaining in the game. The Saints would take back the lead on a 10-4 run to make it 72-64 with seven minutes remaining in the game. CSS would not let go of the lead for the rest of the game, finishing with a 90-86 victory.

The Saints finished the afternoon with 52-percent shooting from the field, while Presentation shot 35-percent. The Saints bench contributed 42 points and Presentation got 15. Combined between both teams there were 86 points scored in the paint. Presentation's Nicky Rausch had a game-high 26 points. #Kelly Cinquegrani# finished her last game as a Saint with a team-high 24 points, which is a career-high and 11 rebounds, which gives her two career double-doubles.

The Saints end their season and will miss the UMAC Postseason Tournament for the first time since the 2007-08 season ending a two-year streak.
