PREVIEW: Inaugural Women’s Hockey Season Comes to a Close this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team has unfortunately been eliminated from playoff contention, but will close out its first season at home against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a weekend series at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The Blugolds saw a 10-game unbeaten streak come to an end this past weekend as they dropped two games to Adrian … The Blugolds are battling for the fourth seed in the NCHA O'Brien Cup playoffs and home ice for the first round … Kristin Faber has the conference lead in points with 27 because of her NCHA leading 19 goals as well as eight assists for the senior forward … Three of Faber's goals came against UW-Stevens Point as she registered a hat trick … Faber has scored in 13 of the team's 23 games, has scored multiple goals four times, including a seven-game streak where she scored at least one goal … Toni Simones has the team lead in assists with 11 … Mara Stormer has seen the majority of minutes between the pipes for the Blugolds as she has a goals-against average of 1.72 which puts her third in the conference … As a team, Eau Claire is scoring just under three goals a game while giving up just over two a game.
