GREEN BAY, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team was eliminated from Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) playoff contention after falling to conference rival St. Norbert College on Saturday afternoon by a 2-1 final.

The Saints fall to 7-15-1 on the season (5-12-1 NCHA) with the loss, while St. Norbert improves to 11-9-3 (8-7-3 NCHA).

As with Friday night, the Green Knights got on the board first, with Kelley Ritchie scoring her second of the year at the 11:44 mark of the first period. Karissa Anderson and Andrea Senne had the assists.

After one period, the shots were 11-8 in favor of St. Norbert, but CSS came back to tie it up early in the second as #Kiana Leisz# netted her second of the year, an unassisted tally.

Despite the rally by CSS, the Knights pulled back ahead just before the six-minute mark in the period with Lauren Straus netting a powerplay goal, assisted by Henriette Ostergaard.

CSS finally took an advantage in shots in the third, out-shooting the Knights nine to seven, but were not able to tie it up despite the late battle.

#Rachel Borchardt# stopped 29 of 31 shots for CSS in taking the loss. For St. Norbert, Kaley Gibson stopped 22 of 23 shots in the victory.

CSS finished with eight penalties for 16 minutes, and St. Norbert finished with seven for 14. St. Scholastica was scoreless on its seven powerplay opportunities while the Knights scored one goal in eight.

The Saints will close out their inaugural season at home next week, hosting the Blugolds of the University of Wis.-Eau Claire on Friday and Saturday. The series-opening puck drop is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen live online at csssaints.com courtesy of the iFan Sports Network.
