Knights Hold Off Saints Rally

NEW ULM, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team's comeback falls short in 73-62 loss to Martin Luther on Friday night.

#Bri Allen# started the game for the Saints (8-12, 5-6 UMAC) by scoring the first five points in the first minute of the game. However, Martin Luther (8-12, 6-5 UMAC) quickly responded with a 12-2 run. The Knights would later go on a 9-0 run and would finish on a 10-2 run to go into halftime with a 19-point lead.

Martin Luther maintained its lead until Scholastica battled to come back in the second half with a 12-0 run to make the score 56-54 with seven minutes left. Unfortunately, the Knights went back up by eight, and the Saints went scoreless final two minutes, leading Martin Luther to a 73- 62 victory.

CSS shot 33-percent for the game, while the Knights shot 48-percent. The Saints dominated the board 55-34. Both teams shut under 60-percent from the charity stripe.

Bri Allen (West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) led the Saints with a career-high 27 point on the night. Followed by #Kelly Cinquegrani# with a season-high 17 points. Erica Babinec led Martin Luther with 24 points.

The Saints will have their regular season road finale tomorrow when they play at Bethany Lutheran College. The action is set to tip-off at 3 p.m.
